• Held every four years on the first Thursday in May
• The most recent were held on Thursday 1 May, 2003. The next scheduled elections will be held on Thursday 3 May, 2007.

County Council Elections

• Held every four years on the first Thursday in May
• Held on the first Thursday in May, the last elections took place on 5 May 2005.
• The next Elections will be held in May 2009.

European Parliamentary Elections

• Held every five years in June
• The most recent European Parliamentary Election took place in June 2004

Parliamentary Elections (Known as "General Election")

• Can be held any time during the Governments five year term.
• The most recent General Election took place on Thursday 5 May 2005.

By Elections

• To fill casual vacancies arising from resignations, disqualification or death of the Councilor/Member of Parliament are held as and when necessary.
