We are responsible for collecting Council Tax from residents within East Lindsey, and the money we collect is used to help pay for local services.
Only a small amount of the money we collect from you is spent by us. The largest percentage is given to Lincolnshire County Council, with Lincolnshire Police Authority taking the second largest share. We also collect money on behalf of Parish and Town Councils, and this is included in your Council Tax charge.
There are more than 64,000 households in our district and the average Council Tax bill for a Band D property is £1,364.13, which is low when compared with most other authorities.
More information about Council Tax in East Lindsey 2008/09, including information about where your money is spent, is available in our booklet, ‘Your Guide to Council Tax’.
Council Tax re-billing 2008/09
All Council Tax payers will have received a new bill for the 2008/09 financial year, showing that the amount you have to pay has reduced.
This has happened because on 26th June 2008 the government confirmed its decision to cap Lincolnshire Police Authority's 2008/09 budget.
You can read our 'Council Tax re-billing - Frequently Asked Questions' document to find out more about how this has affected you.
