Here are the answers to some of the common questions about COSHH.
 
 
What do employers need to do to comply with regulations to control such substances?

To comply with regulations, you need to follow the following procedure:

  1. Assess the risks to health from chemicals and then decide what control measures are needed.
  2. Use those control measures and make sure employees use them as well.
  3. Make sure those control measures are working correctly.
  4. Inform employees about any risks to their health.
  5. Train their employees.


What is the first step that an employer needs to do?

Collect up to date information on the toxicity and potential hazards of the substances that are used by the firm.



What do employees have to do?

They must use, handle and store such substances in the way that they have been told to.
