Open and Derelict Properties
The Local Government (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1982 allows local authorities to secure any property or premises which is open to unauthorised entry.
If you have any concerns about the condition of an empty property in terms of merely being unsecure please contact either the Health and Safety or the Environmental Protection Section, who will arange for a visit to be made in order that the building may be secured as soon as possible.
If it appears that a property of structure is likely to be unstable/collapsing or dangerous please contact the Building Control Section in the first instance.
