EAST Lindsey District Council wishes to adopt and publish a Conservation Area Appraisal to help protect, manage and enhance the Woodhall Spa conservation area. The conservation area is an area of the village that has a special character and is of architectural and historic interest.
The Conservation Area Appraisal analyses the special character of the village, identifying the key characteristics that make the area important and worth safeguarding for the future. The document also identifies elements that could be improved and recommends amendments to the existing boundary. The Appraisal is accompanied by Management Guidelines that identify key policies and proposals that will help to preserve and enhance the character of the area.
The Woodhall SpaConservation Area currently encompasses the majority of the older parts of the village including the substantial grounds of the Petwood Hotel and the woodland areas between Stixwould Road and the Spa Baths and Kinema. It stretches east to west from Witham Road’s junction with King Edward Road along Station Road and The Broadway including parts of the Spa Trail, the Old Manor House, and ends at Kirkby Lane. Cromwell Avenue and parts of Tor-o-Moor Road form the southern boundary.
The Council would like your views on the draft of the Woodhall Spa Conservation Area Appraisal. The draft document will be available for public consultation from Thursday June 12 until Friday July 18 2008. It is hoped that as many people as possible will read and comment on it.
