THE London Mozart Players will return to East Lindsey this year for the seventh year running with a series of special summer concerts in Louth, Wragby and Mablethorpe thanks to funding from East Lindsey District Council, Orchestras Live and Arts Council England.
A selection of serenades is on offer for this summer tour, including Mozart’s Serenade in C minor for wind octet and Dvořák’s sumptuous Wind Serenade, full of great melodies and catchy Czech rhythms. Although called a ‘wind serenade’, it also features a cello and bass, who get their chance to shine in Rossini’s Duo for Cello and Bass while the wind players get their breath back.
The concerts take place on the following dates costing £8 or £3 for under 18s and students.
- Riverhead Theatre, Louth on Tuesday 24 June, 7.30pm Tel: 01507 600350
- All Saints Church, Wragby on Wednesday 25 June, 7.30pm Tel: 01673 857825
- St Mary’s Church, Mablethorpe on Thursday 26 June, 7.30pm Tel: 01507 479449
This residency from summer 2008 to spring 2009 focuses on the area around Mablethorpe, and the LMP will visit as many venues, schools and community centres as it can during its three tours in June, November and March, bringing live classical music to the heart of the coastline community. In Mablethorpe, on June 26, the LMP will perform in the foyer of the Marisco Health Centre and the Children’s Centre, in addition to local schools and care homes.
The LMP is also performing a Family Concert in the gardens of the Petwood Hotel, which has supported the LMP for many years. On June 25 at 4pm, the LMP invites the audience to picnic on the grass for an hour or so while the orchestra entertains all the family with light music and informal chat, presented by the LMP Education Manager, Margaret Archibald. Tickets are available from the Petwood Hotel on 01526 352411.
