EAST Lindsey District Council is looking for potential housing sites to provide homes for the future.
Council planners are asking residents to suggest sites of over 0.1 hectare that they feel would be suitable, available and viable as housing sites in the near future. This initiative forms part of the Strategic Housing Land Availability Assessment that is being carried out across the district.
Planning Officer, Bob Bowe, said the Council would be looking for sites only in the more sustainable towns and larger villages: "There is a clear need in East Lindsey for different types of housing that promote community living and sustainability. It is important that we explore all options. Working with residents, parish councils, landowners and developers, we hope to be able to identify a number of suitable sites that we can then consider as we continue to pull together the Local Development Framework," he explained.
Any site must meet a range of planning and development criteria. Details are available on the submission form on the District Council’s website www.e-lindsey.gov.uk.
If a site meets these criteria it does not automatically mean it will be suitable for development. It will only be considered for allocation in the forthcoming Local Development Framework if there is a proven need for housing in that location.
Submission forms can be downloaded from the website or be obtained by e-mailing bob.bowe@e-lindsey.gov.uk or by phoning the Planning Policy Team on 08446 601111. Completed forms should be returned by August 15, 2008.
