A SERIES of meetings have been arranged in East Lindsey to better inform residents about the concept of an eco town and to allow residents to have their say on the project.
The District Council has suggested the former airfields at Manby and Strubby as potential locations for an eco-Town featuring the very best in environmental technologies and new industry.
At the same time an eco-town on either of these sites will help to address key social and community issues facing the district. This includes addressing the need for affordable housing, improving skills, attracting new investment and encourage environmental technologies.
This bid has since been down selected to a ‘last 15’ and has already gained direct support and encouragement from the Government.
Further consultation with the public will inform the later stages of the process.
The meetings will take place as follows:
- Wednesday, June 4, 2008 - Withern Village Hall - 7pm
- Friday, June 6, 2008 - Maltby-Le-Marsh Village Hall - 7pm
- Tuesday, June 10, 2008 - Tedder Hall, Manby Park, Manby – 7.30pm (THIS IS A CHANGE OF VENUE)
- Wednesday, June 11, 2008 – Meridale Youth Centre, Sutton on Sea– 7pm (Mablethorpe Area Committee).
- Monday, June 16, 2008 – Saltfleetby Village Hall – 7pm
- Tuesday, June 17, 2008 – Becketts, Mumby Church Hall – 7.15pm (Alford and Spilsby Area Committee)
- Thursday, June 19, 2008 - Louth Town Hall - 7pm
- Tuesday, June 24, 2008 - Trusthorpe Village Hall - 8pm
