‘Proud’ to be flying the flag of quality on our coast

BLUE Flags will be flying in Skegness, Mablethorpe and Sutton on Sea again this year, as the three resorts retain their position as some of the best in the world.

The Blue Flag Award is organised by Encams, the Environmental Charity, and is awarded only to the seaside resorts that can demonstrate that they meet the stringent standards in cleanliness and have sound environmental management.   Having Blue Flag Status also demands that each resort has good facilities and information available to the public.

East Lindsey District Council’s Deputy Leader, Councillor Dick Edginton, is delighted the Blue Flags will be flying on the coast again this year: “This Award is something I am very proud of.  It is an acknowledgment of all the hard work that goes into keeping our resorts in tiptop condition all year round and a tribute to our employees.  Each morning during the main season we have teams out at 5am surf raking the beaches, emptying bins and litter picking the streets.  We also have a strong foreshore management team that ensure the smooth running of the resort, plus a team of beach lifeguards who provide beach safety advice to families visiting the area.   Their commitment and dedication makes this award possible year on year,” he said.
